Saturday night was a great night for those at Backgate as the robbers that terrorized Royal Lodge were caught at St. Mary's Lodge where they came to exact their business at about 10pm.
They had attacked a room filled with girls, robbing them of their phones and locked them inside, going down to the next room. The girls began to raise alarm, while the robbers were banging the protector of the next room. Confused by the noise, the robbers started running downstairs and they were allegedly trapped in the compound by a lady who was just returning. Once she heard the alarm, she smartly locked the gate from outside, thereby trapping the robbers inside the lodge compound where the residents caught up with them and beat them to their hearts' content. Unfortunately, one of the robbers escaped and he was the one holding the sack with the phones.
The stolen items retrieved were contained in a sack which was thrown into a nearby bush by the fleeing robber. It contained a laptop and some phones. The robber finally made away with a laptop.
The grievance of the residents of other lodges was that St. Mary's did not display the robbers for others to exert their frustrations on. The robbers were finally taken away by the Army officers in charge of ESUT, Agbani.
The residents of the lodges at Backgate came out to celebrate by burning tyres and popping bottles. The 'party' lasted till after midnight. Here are some photos below:
